best of the city
people's choice

I've been sitting on these results for a little too long now. Finally, here they are: your choices for the best urban places in the city.

(Voters were allowed multiple choices so the percentages will not tally.)

Best Street: Adriatico in Malate (42.9% of votes)
Runners up: Binondo/Ongpin St. (30.8%) and Roxas Boulevard (14.3%)

Best District: Makati CBD (50%)
Runners up: Binondo/Ongpin St. (30.8%) and Quiapo (14.3%)

Best Open Space, Park or Plaza: Greenbelt Park (37.5%)
Runners up: Intramuros Walls, American Cemetery and UP Sunken Garden (all tied at 28.5%)

Best Market or Mall: Greenbelt Mall (61.5%)
Runner up: Tiendesitas (23.1%)

Best Temporary or Day Market: Salcedo and Legaspi Weekend Markets (63.6%)

Best Campus: UP Diliman (64.3%)
Runner up: CCP Complex (50%)

Best Building: San Agustin Church (42.9%)
Runner up: Ayala Museum (28.6%)

Let's do this again next year!

I am surprised about Binondo & Quiapo.

sydney,

were you surprised that they were on the list or surprised that they didn't win top honors?

That they got so many votes.
Binondo 30% versus Roxas 14.3%
I would never had guessed that Binondo would be more popular.

There is an "authenticity" to places -like some deep shared memory -that makes places like Binondo very attractive. The fabric just feels very real.

i think it would be nice to see how many votes were actually casted.

San Agustin Church and Ayala Musuem as for the Best Bldg? and CCP Complex for 2nd best campus?? Binondo for 2nd best district???

sorry, I don't mean to bash this, but this is really not "the" people's choices, imho.

ren,

your asking for a statistically correct survey? from a BLOG vote in??!!!???

yeah right.

go design your own survey (preferably with a +-3 sampling error) and you can come up with your own list.

I'd have to agree with the market results. The Legaspi Sunday Market moved to a better location last Sunday. It's now in the parking lot behind Corinthian Plaza every Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
